STUDENT SUPPORT & PROGRESSION


 

1. Library facilities are available for lending books. Besides, Journals, Magazines are also available.There is a separate Reading Room Section which is open from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. Here the students can engage themselves in serious study, either using their own books or the text-books available in this section


2. Fairly equipped Laboratories of Geography, Chemistry, Zoology, Physics, Botany and Music are capable of catering to the academic interest of the students.


3. UGC-NRC Room with a good number of computers and internet facilities is available for the students. This remains open from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm.  Apart from these, departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany and Geography have computers for the students. Computer facilities are available in office, library, Account section, staff room and different departments both for administrative and academic purposes. Computerization of office records and library are being made. Attempts are being made for developing own software and LAN.

 

4. An ICT class room with smart board facility has been set up for the academic use (specially for online classes) of students by the generous grant received from Government of West Bengal.  


5. National Service Scheme (NSS): In this scheme students get opportunity to take part in several social works like literacy programme, afforestation, blood donation, health awareness, etc. All the active participants are to get certificates to the same effect. There are two Units of NSS: Unit-I & II.

 

6. Career counseling and employment cell engaged for providing valuable information and suggestions regarding higher education and employment.

 

7. Tutorial Classes and Remedial measures are provided to the slow learners.

 

8. Apart from the annual University examinations, class tests, assessment tests and Test examinations are arranged by the Departments on regular and annual basis to assess the development and shortcomings of the students. 


7. Students’ Union election is held in each year as per the guidelines of SKBU and the Govt. West Bengal. The Head of the Institution is its ex-officio President. The Students’ Union plays a vital role in activities like academic, cultural, annual sports meet, publication of College magazine etc.Separate Common room for boys and girls with indoor games facilities.

 

8. There is a spacious Canteen within the premises of the Institution, offering varieties of food items at reasonable price.

 

9. Academic calender is distributed among the students at the time admission.

 

10. Annual Excursion is conducted for the students of the Department of Geography and those of Science Departments as a part of their curricula.

 

11. National/State-level Seminars/Workshops have been and are organized by various Departments that provide a great opportunity for the students to listen to the erudite speeches delivered by a host of reputed scholars and also to take part in the debates and discussions.

 

 


SCHOLARSHIP & FREESHIP


 

Sri Milan Roy, a veteran NRI, kindly extended his benevolence by funding the following scholarships to the students. Scholarships are generally awarded on the dual basis of merit and financial condition of the students. Eligible candidates are instructed to apply on notification in this regard.

  1. “Maharaja Sankariprasad Singh Deo Memorial Scholarship” to be awarded to selected students who have passed from this College and currently pursuing regular UGC-approved post-graduation courses.
  2. “Sampat Roy Memorial Scholarship I” to be awarded to selected students of this College who passed Part-II examination of the affiliating university, and have already been admitted to Part-III in this College.
  3. “Sampat Roy Memorial Scholarship II” to be awarded to selected students of this College who passed Part-I examination of the affiliating university and have already been admitted to Part-II in this College.  
  4. “Sampat Roy Memorial Scholarship III” to be awarded to selected students of this College as per his/her overall performances in Part I, Part II, and College examinations.

Half Free & Full Freeship facility are available for students on the basis of merit-cum-means.
